“Reverence For Life”

Despite my busy schedule I have managed to rummage my old box which contained lots of letters, invitations, and just about any paper that can give me evidence of the time lost and will never come back.

So I saw the short speech I made in our English class in response to Albert Schweitzer’s essay: “Reverence For Life”, reading it again, I was so amazed for I only remember a little from what I wrote. Good thing I kept it safe and here to share with you.

Ama la vida y la vida tambien te quiero. La gente ama y te amara de vuelta. (Love life and life will love you back. Love people and they will love you back.)

A man is truly ethical when he obeys the compulsion to help all life which he is able to assist, and shrinks from injuring anything that lives.

When do we consider a man ethical? Human? That he has respect? Each and every one of us will give different responses. It may seem that way but Albert Schweitzer points this to every single individual who walks the earth. Yes, every soul has the duty of being a steward of what was given to us- and that is life. Life itself pulls us to be persons with great reverence. When we realize that we destroy life, our conscience takes over. A man is truly ethical, human, and respectful if he lets his conscience take over him.

Albert Schweitzer also mentioned that all destruction of life, in whatever circumstance, is evil. If you revere all forms of life, then you would think twice. Reverence is like a domino, if you have reverence it affects everything you do. Life itself drags us to bring this reverence inside of us.

If you help, you gain. If you work, you profit. If you revere, you give in to life’s compulsion and this enables you to help life, preserve life and abhor destroying life.

Obey life, be ethical, be human, have respect. Once more, love life and life will love you back.
